It is a great pleasure to welcome you to Sydney and a great honour to introduce the technical program of the 2022 International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation (ISAP 2022).
Since its inception in 1971, ISAP has grown to become a premier forum of exchange in the area of electromagnetics, antennas and propagation. While the conference serves foremost the Asia-Pacific region, it is a truly international event, with global dissemination of contributions from all over the world. We are therefore delighted to present the 2022 technical program, which provides an exciting snapshot of the latest research developments in our field of interest.
The Technical Program Committee has received 348 submissions from 32 countries, which is an appreciable number, considering the uncertainties of this third year in the COVID-19 pandemic. All submissions were subjected to a rigorous evaluation process, consisting in technical assessment by 2-4 expert reviewers. Most papers received three or four review reports, which is testimony to the outstanding dedication of our 283 reviewers, who jointly delivered a total of 1174 timely reports. We take this occasion to thank them wholeheartedly.
As a result of this rigorous review process, the current program includes 292 papers to be presented at the conference. The technical program will include 3 keynote speeches, 20 semi-plenary invited talks, nearly 60 sessions (including 17 convened sessions, nearly 40 regular sessions and 3 awards sessions). In addition, a special workshop dedicated to antennas and propagation standards has been included in the program to deliver relevant information to industry and academic research communities.
Of particular note, the highest-ranked 10 student papers and 5 early-career researcher papers have been selected from the review process to enter the finals of the ISAP 2022 best paper competition. The presentation by the finalists will be assessed by the Award Committee in three dedicated sessions on the first day of the conference (two sessions for the student category, and one for the early-career category).
While the main conference events will take place on-site in Sydney to maximise interactions, the committee has made every efforts to accommodate the needs of authors who will unfortunately not be able to travel at that time. To this end, 14 of the technical sessions will be run as online-sessions, in parallel to the main event to allow smooth virtual participation.
We are looking forward to welcoming you in Sydney with a stimulating ISAP 2022 technical program!
